Video of intense hand-to-hand combat between Russian and Ukrainian soldiers exposed! Musk speaks up
On January 3, the Kremlin-owned Russian media outlets Russia Today (RT) reported a "pitched hand-to-hand combat fight between a Russian and a Ukrainian soldier on the battlefield." The news outlet said that the footage was recorded by a Ukrainian soldier, who died in the subsequent clash.
RT says the footage was captured by the Ukrainian soldier, who is also heard speaking in the later part of the clip before succumbing to his injuries. On January 13, this soldier's Russian counterpart was identified and interviewed by the channel. And the day after, the American billionaire Musk commented on the video on his personal social media account.
The fight between the two soldiers took place in the fall of 2024 outside Donetsk. According to RT, the video shows a Ukrainian soldier entering a residential house to search it. However, before he can enter, a Russian soldier hiding in the corridor attacks him. In the first minute of the recording, the two exchange several rounds of gunfire, but both remain on their feet. They then proceed to throw hand grenades and engage in hand-to-hand combat using knives and stones they have picked up from the ground.
At around the fifth minute, the Ukrainian soldier drops to the floor due to the wounds inflicted by the Russian soldier's stabbing him with the small knife. At this point, the Ukrainian soldier asks the surviving Russian soldier to give him some space so that his last moments of life can be spent in privacy.
"You killed a great soldier," the Ukrainian tells a visibly shaken Russian fighter. "You are the best warrior in the world." Shortly afterward, the wounded soldier dies. The Russian soldier then leaves the house. The video ends with explosions and gunfire from the background, presumably indicating the beginning of a new battle at another location.
The survivor of the incident was identified on January 13 as Andrei Grigoriev, 47, who fought for the Russian military, and is originally from the Sakha (Yakutiya) republic in northern Russia. "He was very strong, and this fight was difficult for me; there really was a moment there where everything looked quite unfavorable," said Grigoriev in a video interview posted by Russia Today.
When questioned about what happened to "the Ukrainian" after he collapsed on the floor, Grigoriev claimed that after they left the house, he saw the man in his last moments of life. According to him, the Ukrainian soldier asked him to end his suffering because he knew he would not survive. Grigoriev then proceeded to drop a hand grenade next to the wounded soldier and fired a shot from his assault rifle.
Grigoriev, now back from the front line, says that before going on military campaigns, he attended a "pre-mobilization course where military knowledge is studied." But in addition to talking about his "lessons learned" from the Russo-Ukrainian war, the armed man made an emotional appeal to viewers, saying he wanted to "show that there must be a person inside the soldier in all conditions, in all situations, and at all times. It's something I learned at school. "
On January 3, Musk, referring to the gruesome footage, wrote on his personal social media account: "Just in case, I mounted a WWI trench knife on the bedroom wall. 1917 manufacture. Much more useful in close quarters than the gun behind it."
